Outback Steakhouse - Cheese Chips

When it comes to Aussie steakhouses, there are plenty to choose from; Outback Steakhouse, Ribs n Rump, Hog’s Breath, Hurricanes, and those are just the popular ones.

My very first experience at a steakhouse was at Outback Steakhouse in Parramatta. I remember being blown away by the ridiculously large portions of steaks, ribs, chicken and even chips. Since then I have always looked forward to frequenting them.

Just like the portions, the menu at Outback Steakhouse in North Strathfield is big. There are all varieties of steaks, ribs, burgers, pastas and salads too. Dining here for lunch we ordered the following on this occasion:

Chips topped with Aussie Jack, Cheddar cheese, bits of fresh chopped bacon and served with a spicy ranch dressing.

A trip to Outback Steakhouse isn’t complete if you don’t order the cheesy fries. Seriously, if you’re not getting them, then just stay home! Just kidding :) Clearly I love cheesy fries so I do recommend them. I remember the portions shrinking over the years, however, today’s portion was huge (yay!). And the ranch sauce, as always, is yummm! A must have!

On another note, I’ve never actually seen anyone eating the complimentary bread?

Outback Steakhouse - Alice Springs Chicken

Alice Springs Chicken® ($24.95)
Chicken breast flame-grilled and topped with sautèed mushrooms, crisp strips of bacon, melted Aussie Jack and Cheddar and finished with Outback Steakhouse’s honey mustard sauce.

This is another one of my favourites from the menu. I have to say, though, that on this occasion I was disappointed. The chicken was well overcooked, and as a result, way too dry and stringy. Thankfully the jacket potato, my preferred choice of sides, was beautiful.

Topped with Outback’s Bloomin’ Onion petals, Cheddar cheese, lettuce & tomato and Outback Steakhouse’s famous Bloomin’ Onion sauce.

Just like the Alice Springs Chicken, the Bloomin’ Burger’s beef paddy was a little too dry for our liking. Which is a real shame because everything else in the burger was great and really begging for a nice juicy paddy.

Apart from the beautiful cheesy fries, this visit to Outback Steakhouse was a disappointment. Steakhouses are all about big portions, but also quality food. Sadly, the latter of two was lacking today.

    THE COMPLIMENTARY BREAD IS THE BEST. You have to try it with the butter..it’s just amazing. I’d go to the Outback Steakhouse just for the bread.
